Got a belly ache? Try blending up this quick and easy Cantaloupe Ginger Smoothie made with a handful of Paleo ingredients to ease tummy problems like gas and bloating.
Start with a base of ripe cantaloupe. This melon is a great source of soluble and insoluble fiber, helping to aid in waste removal. If you have time, freeze the cantaloupe before adding to the smoothie, and use it in place of ice.
Other ingredients that will boost gut health are ginger and mint. Ginger is great for aiding digestion and to soothe an upset stomach, while mint can be helpful at alleviating gas, bloating, and stomach discomfort.
We used coconut milk for the liquid in this smoothie. Nourishing coconut milk is rich in healthy fats and medium-chain triglycerides that can reduce stomach inflammation, and animal studies suggest that it might even help shrink stomach ulcers. [1] If you don’t have coconut milk, you can use other non-dairy substitutes like almond milk, cashew milk, or hemp milk.
To make your gut-soothing smoothie, simply blend all ingredients on high in a blender until well combined. Pour into a glass and garnish with fresh mint leaves, if you like. Grab a straw and enjoy!
Tip:
• Add a tablespoon of grass-fed collagen peptides for an amino acid boost that helps support joint, skin, and gut health.
