Last Look Back: Hunter-gatherers Natural Treatment for the Coronavirus image

Last year, the coronavirus pandemic swept the globe. In an effort to preserve one of the last hunter-gatherer cultures, Dr. Douglas London and his Last Look Back Project led an anti-COVID-19 virus campaign into remote indigenous communities.

The indigenous Waorani tribe introduced the visiting medical team to a plant called ajo de monte or “Mansoa alliacea,” which may be responsible for their resilience to COVID-19 due its strong anti-viral properties.

Journey with research coordinator Juan Carlos Cuenca as he facilitates this incredible meeting between a government medical team and the rarely-before-seen native Wao populations.
