Finding salt-free lemon pepper seasoning at the grocery store can be a challenge. Many blends contain unnecessary additives you’d rather avoid. Fortunately, with just a few basic spices, you can easily make your own Homemade Lemon Pepper Seasoning.

This spice blend pairs well with countless dishes. We especially recommend using it in savory Mediterranean-style recipes to enhance the flavor. It also makes an excellent dry rub for any cut of steak or chicken wings. Try cooking it with rosemary and olive oil for a juicy, flavorful meal. You can even add it to a simple salad dressing for a bright, zesty boost.
Our homemade lemon pepper seasoning calls for lemon zest, which you can get by using a zester or a fine grater (avoid graters with large holes). It’s a great way to make use of lemon peels you’d normally throw away when juicing.
You’ll want to store this spice blend in a small glass jar. We recommend recycling old spice jars, just wash them out with mild soap and water once they’re empty. Then you can create your own labels or write directly on the glass with a permanent marker as your spice collection grows. This homemade lemon pepper blend will keep in a cool, dark place for up to a year.
