Coffee is one of the most popular beverages in the world—and it can be a regular part of a Paleo diet for those without caffeine sensitivities. Because coffee is such a common routine for so many, we’re providing our recommendations for coffee cart accessories so you can feel like a barista in your own home. We know coffee preferences vary from individual to individual, so see which tools stand out to you that can add efficiency, functionality, sustainability, or style to your coffee bar.
Under some of these recommendations you may see two options, either for different price points or diverse options to choose from. We don’t skimp on quality when selecting a less expensive option—in fact, that may be the one we prefer because our staff has tried it themselves.
We want you to feel comfortable in the choices presented to you, with the knowledge that whichever one you prefer has been vetted by cross-referencing with select trusted reviewers or tested by our staff beforehand. If you believe one of our recommendations does not fit with our Paleo standards, please let us know at help@thepaleodiet.com.
Coffee Cart

We adore a carefully curated corner for morning brews, but if you don’t have the dedicated space to set up your coffee bar on the countertop, try a coffee cart instead.
Superjare has plenty of vertical space with an integrated outlet to accommodate short cords, while Yaheetech is compact and portable to maximize precious kitchen real estate. Both options come in multiple colors and include hooks for showing off your favorite mugs.
Espresso Maker

If carefully crafted espresso drinks are your thing, consider investing in an espresso maker. Wirecutter recommends the Breville Barista Express for the espresso connoisseur, but it can be pretty bulky.
A dual-function coffee and espresso maker not only costs less, but will take up less space in your coffee bar by consolidating appliances. We like the Ninja Barista System, which was tested and approved by Consumer Reports and can brew nine different sizes of coffees, from single espresso shots to a full carafe.
Moka Pot

Though not a true espresso maker, moka pots are occasionally marketed as such because they will brew slightly stronger java than drip coffee, and store more easily than a cumbersome espresso maker. Not to mention, having this iconic appliance on your coffee cart will earn you respect from other moka pot enthusiasts. Bialetti manufactures the original design, which is still popular among many almost 100 years later.
French Press

A French press is a great choice for the occasional coffee drinker or someone who enjoys the hands-on experience of making coffee. It’s versatile too—use these for making cold brews or cold-steeped teas.
The Bodum Chambord made the short list for both Wirecutter and Consumer Reports as one of the best French presses, and we like the choice of different colorways.
Pour Over Carafe

Those who know the experience of a quality pour over coffee, know. And our favorite vessel for pour overs is none other than the classic Chemex. Not only is it a stylish choice, but it’s also a known favorite among coffee enthusiasts. And, like the French press above, it can double as a cold brewer.
Reusable Coffee Filter

Metal filters are on the rise as low-waste and cost-effective alternatives to paper filters. This design from Apace Living has two different patterns and multiple colors to choose from, but customers have mixed reviews on the amount of time it takes to filter coffee—with some saying it takes too long while others commenting the water drains through too fast.
Kettle

You can’t make a hot cup of java without hot water. For your French presses and pour overs, find a kettle that’s both a functional and stylish addition to your coffee cart.
The Secura kettle was the top performer out of all kettles tested by Consumer Reports, while Cuisinart’s gooseneck kettle was a favorite among Wirecutter testers and allows for precision for pour overs.
Mug Storage

You likely have your own selection of hand-picked mugs for your morning joe, but do they have a dedicated space in your coffee bar? A mug tree allows you to display your favorite vessels out in the open, while a stackable set can further save space and bring a cohesive look to your station.
Espresso Mugs

If you’re splurging for an espresso maker or already have one on your coffee cart, a set of stackable espresso cups and saucers will complete your space and provide enough matching servingware to accommodate guests who are ready to see your espresso skills. The brand below comes with a metal stand and multiple colors and sizes to choose from.
Frother

Though The Paleo Diet does not include dairy products, non-dairy milks can still froth up with the right tools. And don’t just save this handheld device for your coffee—it easily blends other ingredients, too, like electrolyte mixes, protein powders, or your favorite coffee add-ins.
Glass Creamer Jar

A creamer jar may not live on your coffee cart, but for those who like to add a little flavor to their mornings, it makes a great everyday storage vessel for homemade nut milks or non-dairy creamers. Choose from a more modern look or a classic jar that gives a nod to the days of home-delivered milk in glass bottles.
Storage Containers

Fresh coffee makes for the best coffee, so you want your container to not only look good, but preserve your coffee beans or grounds for as long as possible.
Veken’s canister comes with its own scoop, a window to see how low your stash is getting, and a date tracker on the lid to remember best-by dates. Meanwhile, Planetary Design makes canisters with a patented plunger lid that forces out excess air to keep your coffee fresher for longer.
Coffee Grinder

Nothing beats the aroma of freshly ground coffee in the morning, and we have two options that were both recommended by both Consumer Reports and Wirecutter.
Timemore’s manual grinder is a beautiful tool that will add a classy look to any coffee bar; but if you prefer to let the grinder do the work while you finish your morning prep, Oxo’s grinder is also a good choice.
Coffee Spoons

Instead of pulling from your regular silverware set, give a set of long coffee spoons a permanent place on your coffee cart. Whether for scooping grounds into your coffee maker or stirring the contents of your travel mug before heading out the door, you’ll be using them every day.
