Name a better duo than strawberries and bananas! This Strawberry Banana Smoothie recipe puts a twist on a classic flavor with the help of a secret ingredient: cilantro microgreens.
Cilantro is an easy-to-grow herb with several known health benefits. It has been proven to reduce symptons of cognitive diseases, anxiety, and can even help protect your body from infections and sicknesses caused by contaminated foods. As microgreens are the younger, more nutrient-dense version of the plant, it’s the perfect garnish to throw in any smoothie or top off a bowl (we recommend getting yours from BrightFresh Microgreens).
To maximize the smoothie’s creaminess, it’s best to slice the bananas in advance and freeze them until you’re ready to blend. The frozen bananas not only lend a velvety texture, but also provide a refreshing coolness. If you have a sweet tooth, don’t hesitate to add extra bananas for an extra dose of natural sweetness. If you don’t like bananas, add frozen mangos or pineapples.
