Halloween décor can be fun to shop for when we want to get into the spirit, but it can be dreadfully short-lived when it comes time to display it. Though we do appreciate decorative ghosts and witchy vibes, we here at The Paleo Diet® also value items that hold longevity and reusability.

With that in mind, we’ve compiled several kitchenware pieces that set the mood through color, texture, and durability so they remain useful throughout the year—with a few bonus recommendations for keeping Halloween health-conscious and inclusive for the little ones, too.

You’ll see stoneware in autumn tones, jars that hold both fall spices and everyday staples, and linens that layer into many seasons. Each item connects back to Paleo recipes and resources, giving you practical ways to celebrate while keeping health, sustainability, and inclusivity at the center.

Under some of these recommendations you may see two choices showing diverse options to choose from. We don’t skimp on quality when selecting a different or less expensive option—in fact, that may be the one we prefer because our staff has tried it themselves.

We want you to feel comfortable in the choices presented to you, with the knowledge that whichever one you prefer has been vetted or tested beforehand. If you believe one of our recommendations does not fit with our Paleo standards, please let us know at help@thepaleodiet.com.

Functional Décor

Start adding some spooky ambiance to your home with multipurpose dishes. A mini cast-iron cauldron could hold incense or fall-scented potpourri and looks like it can belong in the kitchen or as part of a witchy abode. Meanwhile, a tinted glass dish with Victorian detail may hold tiny treats, jewelry, or a homemade decorative candle, and brings a vintage look to any home.

Countertop Food Canisters

Set the tone with canisters that live on your kitchen countertop for everyday use. Sweejar’s ceramic ombre canister can be used for compost or Paleo treats, while the Airscape canister from Planetary Design can keep dry goods like tea and coffee fresh for longer with a plunger lid that removes oxygen from the container.

Spice Containers

When pumpkin spice season rolls around, it’s the perfect opportunity to make your own homemade mix to use whenever the mood strikes. And the right vessels for your spices can contribute a warming atmosphere for any season.

The brushed copper tops of the spice shaker set bring the perfect autumn aesthetic with a chic, spherical base for holding your go-to spices like pepper, cinnamon, garlic powder, or chili powder. But beware—these shakers are not meant for long-term spice storage.

Meanwhile, the sugar bowl evokes cauldron vibes with its black, round base and wooden serving spoon. Use it for storing your favorite seasonal spice blend to add to your morning brew—we suggest Pumpkin Spice or Apple Pie Spice.

Tablecloth

A dark tablecloth will not only provide moody vibes for Halloween, but also functions throughout autumn (maybe even Christmas!) and can be repurposed for themed parties. We like the burnt orange, plum, burgundy, and deep green options from the brands below.

Dress up your buffet table, dining table, or use it to frame a doorway for extra Halloween décor. We chose these lacy and gauzy options that, when overlaid with the burnt orange tablecloths above, create the perfect Halloween color scheme.

Matte Black Silverware

Hiware’s 48-piece silverware set is made with 18/10 stainless steel and adds a gothic touch to your table settings that won’t feel out of place.

Slate Serving Board

A dark, earthy serving board creates a seasonal backdrop for Halloween platters while remaining timeless for year-round entertaining. Use these mini boards for individual charcuterie platters or as signage for larger spreads (chalk included).

Tinted Cocktail Glasses

Seasonal in tone but evergreen in use, the subtle smoky tint in these stemless wine glasses brings a sense of class that can be used for both Halloween libations and year-round refreshments. Serve with mocktails, cooled homemade cider, or use them as your everyday drinkware.

From autumn equinox through Thanksgiving, pumpkin décor will last long before and after All Hallow’s Eve. The dish below is oven and microwave safe for heating soups; baking small desserts; or serving seasonal snacks and dressings.

Stoneware Dip Bowls

Bring a look of dark elegance to the table with a matching set of stoneware serving dishes. Köök’s mini cocottes can serve casseroles, pot pies, grain-free breads, and various desserts, dips, and finger foods, and come with lids for easy storage when there’s leftovers. Choose from a selection of deep colors including crimson, black, navy, or blue-gray stone.

This large, matte black and copper bowl has a unique look and elegant shape to complement almost any household in any season. It can function as a statement piece, hold extra Halloween décor, or be used as a candy bowl for trick-or-treaters.

Multicooker

After carving pumpkins with the family, don’t let the seeds go to waste! You can invest in a sole-purpose dehydrator for roasting pumpkin seeds, but if you don’t plan on making jerky and roasted seeds all year long, it may take up a lot of space for minimal use.

We like multicookers like Instant Pot that can dehydrate, slow cook, and air fry all in one. The below model in particular comes with 11 different cooking functions so you can be sure it won’t collect dust after the Halloween decorations have long been put away.

Silicone Molds

Storebought candies can contain a number of never-heard-before additives or proprietary flavor blends that may not disclose every ingredient used. If you like knowing what’s in your Halloween treats (or enjoy making bite-sized, healthy sweets all year), invest in a silicone candy mold. PalkSky has various options to choose from, including Halloween-adjacent skulls, worms, and frogs. Use them for homemade gummies, chocolates, or flavored ice cubes.

Non-Candy Toys

Whether you enjoy handing out treats from the comfort of your own home or prefer providing a safe space at a trunk-or-treat event, you need something to give to kids on Halloween.

While candy remains a classic and most popular option, initiatives like the Teal Pumpkin Project suggest having allergen-aware trick-or-treat options as well. We’ve chosen a couple inexpensive ideas from the list below, compiled with help from Food Allergy Research & Education:

  • Fidget toys
  • Sensory toys
  • Glow sticks
  • Temporary tattoos
  • Stickers
  • Stencils
  • Pencils, pens, or markers
  • Bubbles
  • Slinkies
  • Bouncy balls
  • Finger puppets
  • Playing cards
  • Bookmarks

Reusable Candy Bags

Pillowcases may be the ultimate reusable candy bag for trick-or-treating, but it doesn’t allow for the little ones to express themselves very much. A blank canvas bag is great for families to decorate and customize according to each one’s costume, and can double as toy storage, a snack bag, or a reusable grocery bag once the treats have been sorted.

If your family is participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project, consider a teal candy bucket that will show your support, or fill it with non-candy trinkets and set it out on your porch to signify to others that you have allergy-free options for everyone to enjoy.
