Finished bee and wasp repellent candle with a tea light floating in the water.

No matter where you live, those pesky bees always seem to show up and crash outdoor plans at some point during the year. However, bees are incredibly important to our ecosystem, acting as pollinators that help fertilize not just flowers but the plants we eat.

This is where our Bee and Wasp Repellent Candles come into play. We combine a few ingredients that are known to safely repel bees and other insects along with pleasant scents to create a candle that’s enjoyable, harmless, and best of all, easy to throw together. You don’t need much equipment to make these candles, just a small jar, tea light, and the ingredients.

We use orange peels, lime juice, and lemon juice in our essential oil candles to help deter bees, but any citrus fruit will work as their bioactive compounds are a natural wasp repellent.1 Now, you can enjoy the nice weather and spend some time outside with friends and family without being bothered by bugs. (Looking to repel mosquitoes as well? Check out our Mosquito Repellent Candle, made with similar, all-natural ingredients.)

CAUTION: Never play near an open flame and avoid lighting candles in confined or poorly ventilated spaces. Do not burn for more than 4 hours.

TIP: For a bigger reach or space, double the recipe and use a larger container.
