Hydration and exfoliation are important aspects for healthy skincare. Try out our Exfoliating Sugar Scrub made with only rosehips, coconut oil, and coconut sugar to help encourage your body to shed dead skin cells.
- Rosehips, rich in vitamin C, are ideal for products that help treat various skin issues like scarring, aging, wrinkles, and pigmentation. [1]
- A 25% increase in perceived moisture was noted in users of virgin coconut oil (VCO), as shown by the WHO Self-Assessment Scale [2]. VCO has long been used as a moisturizer, and a 2018 study done by Varma et al. highlights its anti-inflammatory properties, which reduce inflammatory markers and strengthen the skin’s barrier. [3]
Many exfoliating scrubs on the market do more harm than good. Harsh ingredients can damage skin cells rather than gently removing only the dead ones. A good exfoliating scrub should be both gentle and effective.
NOTE: This scrub is for your body and not your face. The skin on your body is tougher than the skin on your face. Regardless of whether you are using a product on your body, we always recommend doing a patch test on the back on your wrist to make sure you don’t have a negative reaction to the product.
TIPS:
- If you don’t have any coconut sugar in your pantry, you can also opt for brown or white sugar when making this scrub.
- Olive oil is a great substitute for coconut oil in a pinch.
