Dr. Cordain,

I'm a runner. 55 marathons and 15 ultras under my belt. I also work full-time at a job that requires regular physical work of my entire upper body. I was a vegetarian for 20 years and my diet was mainly pasta, bread, rice, potatoes, veggies, fruit and cheese. I have always had problems digesting eggs, nuts and beans.

Over the last five years I've noticed increasing pain, stiffness, swelling and "cracking" (that's the only way I can describe it) in my elbows, wrists and finger joints. It's always been in my knees which I attributed to the high mileage running.

Three weeks ago, on the advice of a friend, I switched to Paleo. I eat beef, chicken, fish and tons of vegetables.

I no longer have ANY pain, swelling or "cracking" in my joints. After 20+ years of this condition, to me it's really a miracle. This runner will never go back to grains and dairy. Thank you Paleo.
