Maelán Fontes is a researcher and Ph.D. student at the Center for Primary Health Care Research, Lund University, Sweden. He holds a degree in physical therapy from University of La Laguna (Canary Islands-Spain) and a mater’s degree in Human Nutrition and Food Quality from University of Balearic Islands (Spain). His research interests are the role of food in western diseases from an evolutionary perspective, with special focus on the metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes.
