Say Hello

I'm the author of Nutritional Grail, an award-winning nutrition science book, and Be Bowled, a recipe / food photography book. I’m from Michigan, have a business degree from the University of Michigan, and have lived 15 years abroad in various parts of Europe and the Middle East. I’m interested in business solutions to public health problems, which is why I recently launched a non-dairy, ultra-low-sugar ice cream brand. It’s my mission to continually develop and introduce similar products, which improve people’s health without compromising on taste and satisfaction. See foodchris.com for more.

Meet The Expert

What makes you an expert on The Paleo Diet?

My expertise comes from critical thinking, reliance on evidence, and my ability to present data and arguments. These are the skills I used to write my book, as well as every article I’ve written for The Paleo Diet.

Describe the impact The Paleo Diet has had on your  life?

I came to The Paleo Diet during a time when I was questioning the popularized conception that animal foods like red meat and egg yolks, for example, are inherently unhealthy. The Paleo Diet gave me perspective and practical knowledge, which greatly improved my health.

What does “healthy living” mean to you? And what do you like to eat when you go to the movies?

It means having a healthy relationship with food, which means making smart food choices without stressing out about occasional forays in naughty-food-land. I’m a notorious cinema snack smuggler. I never buy concessions. Instead, I sneak in my own dark chocolate, protein bars, or nuts.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not writing for The Paleo Diet?

As an entrepreneur, most of my time goes into building my business. As for leisure, I’m an avid traveler—my favorite destinations are Greece and Switzerland). I'm an avid '70s and '80s music fan, bitcoin enthusiast, student of Western history, and collector of unique eating bowls.
