Hi Dr. Cordain,
I have a question for you, do you know of any Paleo restaurants anywhere?
What is your opinion, based on the trends, (I assume you’d be the most up-to-date on this info), on the growth and spread of the Paleo movement, how well do you think a Paleo restaurant would function in a typical town, in the vicinity of a few Crossfit gyms?
Also considering that all people who are gluten-free, lactose intolerant, diabetic,…….and on and on, would also be potential customers. And that paleo foods are delicious and appeal to everyone, regardless of whether or not they are official “paleo” eaters.
Thanks for any opinions or comments you may offer.
-Angel
Dr. Cordain’s Response:
Hi Angel,
Below is a list I have compiled of restaurants and food trucks/carts which claim to be Paleo. In the U.S. food trucks which offer Paleo are cropping up all across the country and typically cater to Cross Fitters. Some restaurants actually advertise a Paleo menu like Dick’s Kitchen in Portland, OR and the Calistro California Bistro in Scottsdale, AZ.

I believe that at the very least, inclusion of Paleo friendly items in a restaurant’s menu would appeal to people following the Paleo lifestyle and even to others intrigued by the concept. Clearly, gluten free is now found in restaurants all over the U.S. Increasingly, grass produced meats as well as game meats are now on the menu in many trendy restaurants. Tasty, healthy fresh food is enjoyed by all.
